Karimnagar Dairy, which is making strides in the milk procurement and sales and emerged as the top dairy in the entire Telangana state, was established on October 16, 1971 after the first phase of Telangana statehood movement. Then Chief Minister PV Narasimha Rao and Minister for Agriculture J Chokka Rao played a crucial role in setting up a dairy with 12,000 litres capacity in Karimnagar town during the period.

Till the year 1997, the dairy functioned under the aegis of the state government.  It was  registered as Karimnagar and Adilabad milk producer cooperative union limited under the Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act of 1964. After the introduction of  Andhra Pradesh Mutually aided cooperative societies (APMACS) Act in 1995, the Karimnagar dairy was registered in the year 2003 as the Karimnagar district milk producers mutually aided cooperative union limited.

Later, it was converted into the Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited (KMPCL) aka Karimnagar Dairy according to the Companies Act of 1956.  Since then, it had changed its logo to “Nandi” symbolising the ‘Kode mokku” (tying of an ox) ritual at ancient and historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Vemulawada temple shrine.
